The Château de Fontainebleau has been sovereign residence during those last 8 centuries. Built in the heart of a 130 acres park and garden, this phenomenal place with more than 1500 rooms has been inhabited for 700 years. Many royal families, such as: Capétiens, Bourbons, de Valois, d’Orlean and Bonaparte have lived in this royal and imperial palace.

Barbizon school and the origin of impressionism can be visited during that day, but if you really want to optimize your visiting time frame, Rouen Port of call is a much better option than Le Havre, Honfleur or Caen. The associated impressionist painters with Barbizon are Corot, Millet, Rousseau and Courbet who painted the finest French landscape in the nineteenth century. Located just outside Paris in Fontainebleau forest, the spot was ideally situated to inspire those artists.

Note

The drive last about 3 hours (depending on Paris ring road traffic) so on a 12 hours full day tour you should spend about 5 hours in that memorable site. This excursion does not include Paris at all. Rest stops will be made en route to and from Paris. This tour is primarily for small party up to 8 persons but can be also for larger group upon request. Guide service, taxi transfers, entrance fees and lunch are not included in the transfer price. It will be your responsibility to be at the drop-off point at the given return time.
