Full day 8 hours
from Nantes & St Nazaire

Departure is from your port of call with your driver and an English speaking guide by freeway by passing Angers to St Barthelemy-d’Anjou.

You are starting this excursion with Cointreau famous French liquor which goes back 160 years ago, the key for cocktails and French touch in gastronomy.
After the distillery visit and tasting you will arrive in Saumur for a brief tour and free time for lunch on your own.
Then onto Fontevraud Abbey for a guided tour where the last French nobles of the first Angevin dynasty, who gained renown as the first 'Plantagenet’s' kings and queens of England, were buried. Then you will visit the Romanesque kitchen which is a fascinating structure with a Byzantine style cupola and fish-scale pyramid roof, like those seen in nearby Poitou. It dates from the same period as the church (c.1105-60) and was restored in the early 20th century by Lucien Magne, who added a lantern to each chimney.

This tour has an option, if you are not interested in Cointreau visit we highly recommend the Armored Vehicle Museum of Angers, known as the largest tanks museum in Western Europe.

This is an 8 hours tour from Nantes but 9 hours from Saint Nazaire. Angers Chateau and Tapestry admission fee included.
Cointreau distillery admission fee is not included as it is an optional such as the Tanks Museums, both can be done in extended 2 hours tour, meaning that the full day from Nantes will last 10 hours and 11 hours from Saint Nazaire.
Fontevraud admission is included.
