D-DAY UTAH BEACH TO OMAHA BEACH

full day 9 hours

Description

Departure is from your port of call with your driver and your requested language speaking guide to Omaha Beach by freeway.

In honor to a million plus Americans who landed in Normandy to bring back freedom and democracy, paying their motivation with their lives (31 000 KIA). We are starting our day from the furthest point.

Utah Beach where the 4th Infantry Division landed with 28,000 men, then driving by the narrow country lanes already used by the paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Division you will arrive in Ste Mère Eglise.
The American Airborne Museum is the perfect key to understand the sacrifice done by our youth.
(Fee is not included, but your guide will arrange the group rate for you.)
Lunch is on your own.

Early afternoon you will drive to Pointe du Hoc, the American 2nd Rangers Bn site.
Omaha Beach where the 29th and the 1st Infantry Division landed with 34,000 men, the American Cemetery and American Interpretive Center at Omaha (included).
After this very intense day you will head back to your port of call.

If time permitted your guide will stop at La Cambe, in 1944 one of the numerous American temporary Cemetery, today the largest German Cemetery in Normandy (over that 21 000 burials).
